Dana Millen, MPH, PhD, a public health community organizer and social psychologist in her former professional life, has lived in New Mexico for over 30 years.

Her main 
artistic medium is acrylic and oil paint – using brush, scrapers, palette knives, and markers to place paint on canvas Most recently, Dana has been working in mixed media and collage.  

She
is an observer of the world around her and the beauty of existence. Dana describes her work as impressionistic and fauvist, while embracing bold colors with a fresh Zen-like mind.
In her own words:

“Painting takes me to a moment in time, usually of light, of joy, of movement – whe
n all that matters is that one precious moment. I want to feel that moment, and bring this joy to others."

rimary among the artists who have influenced Dana’s art are Frida Kahlo and Helen Frankenthaler for their bold and revolutionary work.  Dana has also gratefully been inspired by Modernists Gabriele Münter, Henri Matisse, Richard Diebenkorn, and Wassily Kandinsky.

Dana is a member of the New Mexico Art League as well as a member of the Belen Art League in Belen, New Mexico. She was previously a member of the artist-owned Gallery ABQ in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Dana's work has been exhibited throughout New Mexico, including at Gallery with a Cause, and has been purchased by collectors across the United States and internationally.
